St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church of Apex
About St. Elizabeth's
General
St. Elizabeth’s is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. When our bishop, the Right Reverend Michael B. Curry, named us after the mother of John the Baptist, he described Elizabeth as the mother of God’s new possibilities. At St. Elizabeth’s we are actively engaged in discerning, exploring, and participating in those new possibilities in Apex, Wake County, North Carolina, and beyond.
Leadership
St. Elizabeth’s is led by its Vestry and Vicar. The Vestry, headed by the Senior and Junior Warden, consists of six people elected on a rotating basis (two people rotate off the Vestry each year) by the congregation to serve a three year term as the leaders of the congregation. Our Vestry members this year are:
Wendy Harrington, Senior Warden
Allen Thunes, Junior Warden
Margot Hart, Clerk
Jenn Rau
Glen Smith
Carol Field
Anna Wasdell serves as our Treasurer.
‘Vicar’ is the technical term for the priest who serves a mission church. The Vicar is responsible for the worship and pastoral care of the community as well as for working with the Vestry to oversee the day-to-day operations of the church. Our Vicar is The Rev. Sarah Ball-Damberg.
